Okay Disney fans get ready to squee! The trailer for the live-action Lilo & Stitch movie is finally here and it is bringing all the feels. First Look at Live-Action Lilo Stitch and Nani: The Trailer Breakdown
The trailer gives us our first real glimpse of Maia Kealoha as Lilo and she looks absolutely perfect. Seriously Disney nailed the casting here. We also see Sydney Elizebeth Agudong as Nani and Kaipot Dudoit as David and they both look great too. But let's be real the star of the show is Stitch and the trailer does not disappoint.
They have brought Experiment 626 to life in CGI and he is both fluffy and mischievous just like we remember. The trailer is packed with classic Lilo & Stitch moments. We see Stitch causing his usual brand of adorable mayhem ice cream cone mishaps and of course that iconic red spaceship toy.
Nostalgia Overload: Trailer Hits All the Right Ohana Notes
If you loved the original animated movie prepare for a major nostalgia hit . The trailer is full of familiar lines catchphrases and of course that Elvis soundtrack that just makes everything feel right. "Ohana means family" is there don't worry and yes Stitch is still "cute and fluffy." They even used "Hawaiian Roller Coaster Ride" which is guaranteed to bring back all the good memories.
Some fans were maybe a little nervous about how Stitch would look in live-action especially after some past CGI character… missteps (Sonic anyone?). But fear not! Stitch looks fantastic. For those who might be new to Lilo & Stitch the movie tells the story of Lilo a young Hawaiian girl who adopts a "dog" that turns out to be Stitch a genetically engineered alien. It is all about finding family in unexpected places and the importance of Ohana. The live-action movie seems to be sticking pretty close to the original story which is definitely a good thing.
We also get to see some of the other characters in the trailer. Zach Galifianakis and Billy Magnussen are playing Jumba and Pleakley. They appear in hologram form which is a bit of a choice some fans are debating. Courtney B. Vance is Cobra Bubbles and Hannah Waddingham is voicing the Grand Councilwoman. And get this Chris Sanders the original voice of Stitch is back to voice Stitch again in the live-action movie! Tia Carrere Amy Hill and Jason Scott Lee from the original movie are also returning in new roles which is a nice touch for longtime fans.
