Movie fans are you ready for something unexpected? Gwyneth Paltrow is making a big return to acting and it is with none other than Timothée Chalamet in a new movie called 'Marty Supreme'. And from what we are hearing things are going to get seriously steamy. Buckle up because we have got all the juicy details on this upcoming film .
'Marty Supreme' Plot Teaser: Ping Pong Mafia Love and a Whole Lot of Sex Scenes with Paltrow & Chalamet
So what is 'Marty Supreme' even about? It is directed by Josh Safdie the guy behind 'Uncut Gems' so you know it is going to be interesting. The movie is inspired by real-life ping pong pro Marty Reisman. Timothée Chalamet plays Marty Mauser a ping pong prodigy competing overseas.
But here's the twist Gwyneth Paltrow is also in the mix. She plays a woman married to a rival ping pong professional who ends up falling for Chalamet's character. Paltrow describes her character as someone who has had a tough life and Chalamet's Marty "breathes life back into her". Sounds intense right?
And yes the rumors are true Paltrow herself confirmed that she and Chalamet have "a lot of sex" in this movie. Like "a lot a lot". She even joked that they are in "vulnerable positions" together. Set photos of them kissing went viral earlier so we knew something was brewing but Paltrow is really emphasizing the steaminess factor here.
Paltrow on Intimacy Coordinators and Working with Chalamet: 'Girl I'm From a Different Era'

Filming these intimate scenes was a new experience for Paltrow in one way. 'Marty Supreme' was the first time she worked with an intimacy coordinator. For those not in the know intimacy coordinators are now common on Hollywood sets to help actors feel comfortable and safe during sex scenes.
But Paltrow admitted she was not really used to it. She told Vanity Fair when the intimacy coordinator asked if she was comfortable with a certain move Paltrow's response was basically "Girl I am from the era where you get naked you get in bed the camera is on." She and Chalamet apparently told the coordinator "We are good. You can step back a little." Paltrow felt like having someone too involved in choreographing the intimate moments would feel "stifled" to her as an artist.
Despite the age gap between them Paltrow had nothing but praise for Chalamet. She called him a "thinking man's sex symbol" and "very polite properly raised...man". She said he takes his work seriously but is also a "fun partner". She even joked about their age difference saying "I was like 'Okay great. I'm 109 years old. You're 14.'" It sounds like they had a good working relationship despite the intense scenes.
Paltrow's Big Acting Comeback and Cameron Diaz's Encouragement: 'Richness and Deepening of Your Life'

While Paltrow has done some acting here and there in recent years mostly as Pepper Potts in Marvel movies she sees 'Marty Supreme' as her first serious acting role since 2010's 'Country Strong'. She feels like she is really "laying it all on the line and accessing a kind of vulnerability" in this role that her Marvel stuff did not require.
She admitted to having some self-doubt about returning to serious acting after being away for a bit. But luckily her friend Cameron Diaz who also recently made an acting comeback in the movie 'Back in Action' gave her some encouragement. Diaz told Paltrow to "think about the richness and the deepening of your life" as she returned to the screen and that all of life experience is "material" for acting. It seems like that advice helped Paltrow feel ready to take on this new role.
Director Josh Safdie is also excited to have Paltrow in 'Marty Supreme'. He said "She's a movie star. I say that in the cosmic sense. She's got a gravitational pull that only a camera can depict." He thinks her time away from acting has actually added "a vulnerability to her abilities." High praise indeed!
