Disney has dropped a new trailer for Snow White and I still can't believe what I am seeing. The trailer gives people a better glimpse at this live-action remake and it is quite a lot to take in. Alongside more footage of Rachel Zegler as Snow White and Gal Gadot as the Evil Queen the trailer finally presents the Seven "Dwarfs".

These CGI characters are supposed to resemble the classic dwarfs - Doc Grumpy Happy Sleepy Bashful Sneezy and Dopey. However they reportedly will not be called Dwarfs in this movie. Frankly it is all a bit strange and now early box office numbers are coming in and they are not painting a rosy picture for Disney's Snow White .

The New Snow White Trailer Unveils The Seven CGI... Beings Leaving Fans Puzzled

Are These Really The Dwarfs We Know?

The latest trailer for Snow White gives audiences their first real look at the seven companions of Snow White and they are well... something. Described as CGI "people" these characters are clearly meant to be Disney's updated take on the iconic dwarfs. They have some resemblance to their animated counterparts but the execution is leaving many scratching their heads.

It has already been reported that Disney is moving away from calling them dwarfs. This is supposedly to avoid stereotypes. Instead the movie seems to be presenting these CGI creations as just seven individuals who live in the forest. Whether this approach will resonate with audiences remains to be seen but initial reactions online are mixed to say the least.

Beyond the character designs the trailer itself does not offer much to quell concerns. It showcases snippets of scenes and music but the overall tone feels somewhat generic. Disney is clearly hoping to recapture the magic of the original animated film but this trailer is not exactly inspiring confidence. The studio seems to be aiming for a modern spin but it might be losing the charm in the process.

Is Another Disney Flop On The Horizon?

Adding to the concerns surrounding Snow White are the early box office predictions . The movie is currently tracking for a 3-day opening weekend of around $63 million to $70 million. Some analysts even believe $65 million is a more realistic figure at this stage. For many movies this would be considered a decent opening especially with international grosses factored in. However Snow White is not just any movie.

Reports indicate that the budget for Snow White has ballooned to a staggering $250 million or even $269.4 million. This massive price tag puts immense pressure on the movie to be a box office hit just to break even. An opening of $60-$70 million domestically might not be enough. If these numbers do not improve as the March release date approaches Disney could be staring down another major financial disappointment.

It is worth remembering the numerous controversies that have surrounded this project from the start. Peter Dinklage criticized the remake early on for its approach to the dwarfs. There have also been discussions about changes to Snow White's character and the overall story. All of this combined with the lukewarm trailer and concerning box office predictions is creating a sense of unease around Snow White.

Disney's Live-Action Remake Gamble

Snow White is directed by Marc Webb known for The Amazing Spider-Man movies and (500) Days of Summer. The movie features new songs from Benj Pasek and Justin Paul the duo behind La La Land and The Greatest Showman. Disney is hoping this creative team can breathe new life into the classic fairytale.

The movie is scheduled to arrive in theaters next month. Will Snow White manage to overcome the negative buzz and become a success? Or is it destined to be another costly misstep for Disney's live-action remake strategy? Only time will tell if Snow White can surprise everyone and win over audiences but right now the signs are not encouraging. It certainly has an uphill battle ahead of it.
