Their new project A Working Man is based on the book series Levon's Trade by Chuck Dixon. Statham plays Levon Cade a former black ops soldier who has tried to leave his violent past behind him.
Now Levon is living a quiet life working construction just trying to be a good dad to his daughter. But of course peace never lasts long in an action movie. When his boss Michael Peña's daughter gets kidnapped by human traffickers Levon has to dust off his old skills. He is going back into action to rescue her and he is going to uncover a whole lot of nasty corruption along the way.

In the clip Levon is facing down some bad guys led by a character named Dutch. Dutch suspects Levon might be a cop and orders his goons to check him out. Big mistake guys.
What follows is pure Statham mayhem. Broken limbs smashed faces and general badassery ensue. Levon takes down the whole crew with his signature blend of brutal efficiency and lightning-fast moves. If you were wondering if Statham still has it well this clip answers that question with a resounding YES.
Director David Ayer on Statham's Relatability and Stallone's Writing Touch
IGN also got to chat with director David Ayer about A Working Man and what makes Jason Statham so perfect for these roles. Ayer pointed out that Statham has a "working man mindset" because he has "worked his way up in life started humbly". He's "that man next door incredibly gracious and respectful" and that truth comes across on screen. Audiences connect with that even though Statham's characters are super skilled fighters.
Sylvester Stallone also has a writing credit on A Working Man. Ayer said Stallone provided an "amazing starting point" and was "incredibly collaborative". Stallone helped find a "cinematic arc" in Chuck Dixon's book and Ayer enjoyed working with such a "lauded writer".
