Movie premieres are usually all about the stars the fashion and maybe a little bit of drama right? Well Naomi Watts just flipped the script and made her latest premiere totally about… her dog! And honestly we are here for it. For the New York City premiere of her new movie "The Friend" Naomi brought a very special guest her co-star Bing a gorgeous Great Dane and they basically stole the entire show with their matching outfits. Naomi rocked a stunning white dress with a super cool open-back design. The dress had these amazing black furry spots all over the skirt and guess who else has black spots? Yep Bing the Great Dane! He sported his own natural black and white coat and the effect was just adorable. It was like they planned it (maybe they did?).

Bing was clearly loving the spotlight. He even had his own solo red carpet moment posing like a pro. Then in a seriously sweet scene Naomi got down to pet him and give him treats while the cameras snapped away. Forget diamonds dogs are definitely a girl's best friend especially on a red carpet.

Naomi's dress was actually from Jacquemus' spring 2025 collection. It's look 33 from the runway and was originally worn by Irina Shayk. It featured a sleeveless draped top an asymmetrical waist and a long skirt with those fun black tufts. She kept the rest of her look simple with white pointy-toe heels letting the dress and Bing be the real stars. Bing for his part accessorized with a classic red collar and leash. Talk about a power duo!

So what's it like working with a dog on set? Naomi had nothing but amazing things to say about her furry co-star. She told People magazine at the premiere that working with Bing was "unbelievable". Apparently Bing brought something special every single day and surprised everyone constantly.

She even joked about the old Hollywood saying "don’t work with animals or children" but said Bing totally defied that. She explained "he did everything that was required from the page and then some.” That is some high praise!

Naomi went on to call Bing a "very soulful dog" and mentioned how cooperative he was. She said "Look at those ears they hear everything. He’s on alert all day. He knows behaviors. He is sensitive to what's going on and that makes him a really good screen partner." It sounds like Bing is not just a pretty face he is a true professional canine actor.

Okay so beyond the red carpet cuteness what is "The Friend" actually about? The movie is based on the 2018 bestselling novel by Sigrid Nunez. Naomi plays Iris a novelist and writing teacher living in New York City. Her life gets turned upside down when her close friend and mentor Walter played by the one and only Bill Murray passes away and leaves her his Great Dane Apollo.

Apollo is not exactly a low-maintenance pet. He is a "regal yet intractable beast" weighing in at a hefty 150 lbs! Suddenly Iris's quiet solitary life is filled with furniture destruction eviction notices and all sorts of hilarious chaos. But as Iris starts to bond with Apollo she also begins to deal with her past and rediscover her own creative spark. It sounds like a really touching story about grief friendship and unexpected connections all with a very large dog at the center.

Besides Naomi Watts Bill Murray and Bing "The Friend" also stars Ann Dowd Constance Wu Carla Gugino and Sarah Pidgeon. It looks like a great cast for a story that is sure to pull at your heartstrings and make you laugh.

Family Affair: Naomi Watts' Husband and Child Join Her on the Red Carpet

Bing and Naomi were not the only ones shining at "The Friend" premiere. Naomi's husband Billy Crudup and her 16-year-old child Kai Schreiber also joined her for the event making it a real family affair.

Kai Schreiber made a serious fashion statement of their own. They wore a look straight off the Valentino spring 2025 runway! The outfit included a cropped polka-dot blazer a hot pink bustier top and a black ruffled skirt. Kai totally rocked the look with black and red pumps lace tights and a chic bag. They have been making waves in the fashion world recently even making a runway debut at Valentino's fall 2025 show during Paris Fashion Week.

Apparently Naomi was giving Kai some red carpet tips telling them to smile for the cameras instead of going for the more serious model look. It's sweet to see Naomi supporting Kai and the whole family coming out to celebrate her new movie.
