Before the awards season and horror movies one of Ralph Fiennes' well-regarded films is heading to Hulu. Starting February 1 viewers can watch The Grand Budapest Hotel on the streaming platform.

This movie directed by Wes Anderson is set mainly in the 1930s. It takes place in The Grand Budapest Hotel a ski resort in the fictional country of Zubrowka Eastern Europe. Ralph Fiennes plays Gustave H. the hotel's famous concierge. He becomes close to Zero Moustafa a young refugee played by Tony Revolori. Zero becomes Gustave's protege and partner in adventures.

Gustave's life changes when one of his acquaintances dies mysteriously. She leaves him a valuable painting in her will. Gustave becomes the main suspect in her murder. This kicks off a wild story involving a prison escape a robbery and a chase to evade the deceased woman's son and a hitman. There's also a fascist army entering the scene.

Wes Anderson's films have a distinctive visual style. The Grand Budapest Hotel is a prime example. It features artistic symmetrical shots and a bright pastel color palette that is easily recognizable. Many consider this 2014 film one of Anderson's best works even though he has other acclaimed movies.

The Grand Budapest Hotel received four Oscars and was nominated for Best Picture. It also has a high score of 92% from critics on Rotten Tomatoes. Interestingly Ralph Fiennes did not receive a Best Actor nomination for his role. After releasing Asteroid City in 2023 Wes Anderson is nearing the release of his next movie The Phoenician Scheme. Filming wrapped up in June. Details about the plot are not widely known except for the cast and its visual style similar to Anderson's other films.

Roman Coppola co-wrote the script. The movie includes frequent Anderson collaborators such as Murray Dafoe Scarlett Johansson Tom Hanks and Bryan Cranston. Benicio del Toro Michael Cera Riz Ahmed and Rupert Friend are also in the cast. A release date has not been announced but it is expected to come out later this year.
