Okay horror fans get ready to scream because Death is officially clocking back in! The trailer for Final Destination: Bloodlines just dropped and let me tell you it is everything you expect and maybe even more from this crazy franchise. Seriously if you thought you were safe from elaborate and over-the-top Deaths think again.
BBQ of Doom? The Trailer's Opening Death Sequence is Next Level Ridiculous (and Gruesome!)
Right from the start this trailer lets you know they are not messing around. The opening death scene is at a backyard barbecue and it is classic Final Destination levels of bonkers. We're talking a Rube Goldberg machine of doom starting with a tiny shard of glass in an ice-cold drink. From there it just escalates into grill explosions trampoline malfunctions a rogue hose and what looks like a lawnmower straight to the face. Yep you read that right a lawnmower to the FACE.
Someone in the trailer even says "I always knew this day would come. I held him off for years. He’s a relentless son of a bitch won’t stop until he finishes the job. Death is coming for our family." Creepy right? It sets the stage for the whole movie Death is coming for this family and there is seemingly no escape.
Plot Tease: Family Curse and Tony Todd's Last Stand as Bludworth

The trailer gives us a glimpse of the story too. It centers on Stefanie a college student who heads back home because things are getting weird you know death-curse-level weird. She needs to find the one person who can help her family dodge Death who has apparently been messing with them for generations. Sounds like some deep family history is about to be unearthed and probably in a very bloody way.
And get ready for a familiar face because Tony Todd is back as William Bludworth the funeral home guy who always seems to know way too much about Death's plans. This is actually Tony Todd's final movie role which makes his return extra poignant. In the trailer you hear him say in that iconic eerie voice "Only by embracing death will it pass you by." Goosebumps!
Log Truck Alert! Is Final Destination 2's Most Traumatic Scene Making a Comeback?

Okay Final Destination fans you know there are some deaths that just stick with you. And for many people the highway pileup in Final Destination 2 with that log truck is THE MOST terrifying. Well guess what? The Bloodlines trailer has a moment that is going to make you clutch your steering wheel . They show characters slamming on their brakes to avoid a log truck. Are they just teasing us or is Death about to revisit this iconic scene of vehicular carnage?
Screen Rant is even saying this log truck nod might be foreshadowing a full-circle moment recreating the franchise's scariest death sequence for a whole new generation. Imagine log truck terror 2.0! Even though plane crashes and rollercoasters are scary that log truck scene in FD2 is unsettling because it feels so real. Driving behind those trucks is already a little nerve-wracking right? This movie might make you want to avoid highways altogether.
Legacy Sequel or New Era? Bloodlines Promises to Terrify Longtime Fans and Newcomers

Final Destination: Bloodlines is being called a legacy sequel and it definitely seems to be going back to the franchise's roots. They are bringing back Tony Todd and hinting at connections to past movies like Flight 180 from the first film and of course the log truck mayhem from FD2. It feels like they are aiming to please the OG fans while also bringing in a new audience ready to be freaked out by elaborate death traps.
The movie is directed by Adam Stein and Zach Lipovsky and stars Kaitlyn Santa Juana Teo Briones Richard Harmon Owen Patrick Joyner Anna Lore and Brec Bassinger. It's set to premiere on May 16th and get this it's even getting an IMAX release for maximum death-defying thrills on the biggest screen possible.
