Alright comic book movie lovers hold onto your hats because some major Marvel news just dropped and it is HUGE. We've been hearing rumors swirling for ages but now it's confirmed: Vanessa Kirby is joining the MCU as Sue Storm aka the Invisible Woman! And not just in any random project she is diving straight into the deep end with Avengers: Doomsday.

Marvel decided to do things in a seriously cool way to reveal the cast for Avengers: Doomsday . They set up a live stream on YouTube and social media and started dropping names one by one. It was like waiting for a surprise party to unfold and boy did it deliver.
The internet basically exploded when Vanessa Kirby's name popped up alongside a chair with "Sue Storm" on it. Finally after years of fan casting and speculation we officially have our Invisible Woman for this new era of Marvel movies and it is the incredibly talented Vanessa Kirby . If you have seen her in stuff like Mission: Impossible or The Crown you know she is going to absolutely nail this role. Get ready for some force fields and disappearing acts folks!
But Kirby wasn't the only name getting fans hyped. Marvel went all out with this cast reveal.
Avengers Assemble (Again!): Doomsday Cast List is Packed with Returning Favorites and Fresh Faces
Avengers: Doomsday is shaping up to be an absolutely massive movie. Alongside Vanessa Kirby as the brand new Invisible Woman we are getting a whole roster of both familiar and new heroes. Here's a rundown of some of the names Marvel dropped during their big announcement:
- Chris Hemsworth as Thor: The God of Thunder is back for more action! No surprise there but always great news.
- Anthony Mackie as Sam Wilson/Captain America: The new Cap is leading the charge and we can't wait to see him in action in an Avengers-level event.
- Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier: Bucky is back by Cap's side ready to fight whatever comes their way.
- Paul Rudd as Scott Lang/Ant-Man: Ant-Man's gonna bring some humor and maybe some giant-sized action to the mix.
- Letitia Wright as Shuri/Black Panther: Wakanda forever! Shuri is a powerful force to be reckoned with and it's awesome she is joining the Avengers team.
- Wyatt Russell as John Walker/U.S. Agent: U.S. Agent is back and things are probably gonna get complicated and maybe a little morally grey which is always interesting.
- Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm/The Thing: Another Fantastic Four member joining the party! Ebon Moss-Bachrach as The Thing? This cast is getting seriously good.
- Simu Liu as Shang-Chi: Shang-Chi is bringing his martial arts skills to the Avengers lineup finally connecting more to the wider MCU.
- Tenoch Huerta Mejía as Namor: Okay this one is interesting. Namor who was kind of an antagonist in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is also on the list. Is he friend or foe this time around? We will have to wait and see.
Seriously look at that list! It is a mix of OG Avengers newer heroes and even some characters we might not have expected to see team up. Avengers: Doomsday is clearly going for epic scale.
Russo Brothers Return to Direct: Avengers: Doomsday in Safe Hands
To make things even more exciting Marvel also confirmed that Joe and Anthony Russo are back to direct Avengers: Doomsday! These are the guys who helmed Captain America: The Winter Soldier Civil War Infinity War and Endgame. Basically they are Avengers movie royalty at this point. Having the Russo Brothers back in charge definitely raises expectations even higher. They know how to handle massive casts epic storylines and deliver those emotional punches that make these movies so memorable.
The Russo Brothers have been busy with their company AGBO since Endgame producing movies like Extraction and Everything Everywhere All at Once. But they are returning to the MCU for not just Doomsday but also the next Avengers movie Avengers: Secret Wars in 2027. It sounds like Marvel is bringing back the big guns for these next saga-ending films.
Avengers: Doomsday - Setting the Stage for the Future of the MCU
Avengers: Doomsday is set to hit theaters on May 1 2026. That is still a bit of a wait but this cast announcement definitely gives us something huge to look forward to. Coming after Thunderbolts and The Fantastic Four : First Steps it looks like Doomsday will be a major culmination event for Phase 6 of the MCU and the Multiverse Saga.
With Robert Downey Jr. also confirmed to be returning as Doctor Doom in these new Avengers movies things are about to get wild.
