Montana Blizzard Aftermath: Duttons Survive But Zane Faces a New Life-Threatening Crisis

Meanwhile back in Montana the Duttons are dealing with the aftermath of that brutal blizzard from the last episode. Miraculously Jacob and his crew survived the night. They are frostbitten horses are missing and the kids are freezing but they are alive. Cara Dutton continues to be a force of nature. She deals with a rabid wolf dispatches of a dead nurse and even slaps some sense into a hysterical Elizabeth. Just another day on the ranch for Cara.

However their relief is short-lived. Zane the loyal foreman who was crucial to their survival is seriously ill. Doc diagnoses him with a subdural hematoma a dangerous condition caused by head trauma during the storm. He needs surgery with a drill and anesthesia neither of which are available on the remote ranch. Uh oh looks like Zane's blizzard survival might be followed by a different kind of fight for his life. Love and Loss: Lizzie's Boston Dream and Spencer's Texas Tragedy - Parallel Heartbreak for Dutton Couples

Love and heartbreak are major themes in this episode and we see it mirrored in both Dutton couples storylines. Lizzie still reeling from her rabies shots is packing her bags. She wants to leave Montana and go back East to Boston with Jack. Is she serious or is this just post-traumatic stress talking? Jack seems unsure and their future hangs in the balance.

Then there is Spencer in Texas. He and Luca deliver the illegal liquor only to run into a police roadblock. Luca ever confident wants to bribe or shoot their way through.
