Hidden Gems Alert: Underrated Amazon Prime Video Shows You Need to Binge in March

Beyond movies Amazon Prime Video also has some seriously good TV shows that might have flown under your radar. Here are three underrated Amazon Original series worth checking out this March:
- High School (2022):
This comedy series is based on the memoir by Tegan and Sara Quin the indie pop duo. It is a coming-of-age story set in the 90s with a grunge and rave vibe. It follows twin sisters played by Railey and Seazynn Gilliland as they navigate teen life and their passion for music. Critics LOVED this show it has a perfect 100% score on Rotten Tomatoes and audiences agree with a 94% score. Despite the praise it seems like many people missed it. If you grew up in the 90s or just love a good coming-of-age story give this one a watch.
- A League of Their Own (2022):
Based on the classic 1992 movie this series is about the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League during World War II. It focuses on two women Carson Shaw played by Abbi Jacobson and Maxine played by Chanté Adams chasing their baseball dreams in a male-dominated world. This show also got great reviews and was even renewed for a second season but sadly it was later scrapped due to the writers' strike. The first season is still fantastic full of heart humor and stories of women breaking barriers.
While Cruel Intentions TV series was mentioned in source articles as something to watch, it has been cancelled after one season. So, perhaps it's better to skip this one and focus on other great shows Prime Video offers.
Cruel Intentions TV Series Gets Canceled at Amazon After One Season: End of the Road for the Reboot

Speaking of shows that are no more it's official the Cruel Intentions TV series on Amazon Prime Video has been canceled after just one season. This show was a modern update to the 1999 movie which itself was based on the novel Dangerous Liaisons. It premiered in November 2024 but unfortunately it seems like it didn't find a big enough audience.
Cruel Intentions had a long and winding path to TV. It was originally set up at IMDB TV then moved to Prime Video. This version starred Sarah Catherine Hook Zac Burgess and Savannah Lee Smith and followed step-siblings at an elite college engaging in some seriously cutthroat social games. Reviews were not kind and the show apparently did not make much of a splash in the streaming charts. This is not the first attempt to bring Cruel Intentions to TV . A pilot was made at NBC in 2016 and another prequel series was tried at Fox but neither went anywhere. It seems like this story just can't catch a break on the small screen.
AI Dubbing Arrives at Amazon Prime Video: Pilot Program Aims to Expand Language Options

In other Amazon Prime Video news they are experimenting with AI-powered dubbing. Amazon has started a pilot program to use "AI-aided" dubbing for foreign language movies and shows into English and Latin American Spanish. They are testing this on 12 licensed titles including some lesser-known ones.
Amazon says they are using a "hybrid approach" where humans and AI work together to ensure quality. They are also emphasizing that they will only use AI dubbing on content that does not already have dubbing available. This could be a way for Amazon to make more international content accessible to wider audiences. It will be interesting to see how this technology develops and if it becomes more common on streaming platforms.
