No David No DJ No Bev: Which Roseanne Veterans Are Skipping The Conners Finale Season?

Okay brace yourselves because some beloved characters from way back in the Roseanne days are unfortunately not going to be part of The Conners final season. TVLine confirmed that Johnny Galecki Michael Fishman and Estelle Parsons aka David DJ and Bev will not be making appearances. Yep no David's sarcasm no DJ's awkward charm and no Bev's… Bev-ness for the farewell.

Executive producer Bruce Helford explained that while David is "very much mentioned" Johnny Galecki is living the Nashville life now after The Big Bang Theory. They considered having David reconnect with Harris and Mark his kids with Darlene but with only six episodes to wrap things up there just wasn't enough time to do it right. Helford said they didn't want to just bring someone back for a cameo they wanted everyone to have a meaningful part and story.

Same deal with DJ. Michael Fishman last showed up in season four and since then it’s been mentioned that DJ rejoined his wife Geena in Germany. Season seven will apparently confirm that their daughter Mary has also joined them overseas. So no DJ in Lanford for the finale. As for Estelle Parsons our amazing Bev at 97 years young she lives in New York City which is a long way from The Conners set in Los Angeles. Logistics just made it too tough. We will get an update on Bev though Helford promises some "comments made about her situation".

Hello Chad! Seth Green Joins The Conners Crew for a Recurring Role in Final Season

Now it is not all sad news. Deadline announced that Seth Green is joining The Conners for a recurring role in the final season. He will play Chad Darlene's new pal from the Lobo Lounge. Chad is also going through a separation and he and Darlene bond over their shared biting sense of humor. Sounds like they might bond a little too closely according to reports. Intriguing right?

Seth Green is set for a three-episode arc so we will see how Chad shakes things up for Darlene and the rest of the Conner clan. Maybe he will bring some fresh comedic energy to the final season. He is known for his roles in movies like Austin Powers and TV shows like Buffy The Vampire Slayer and Family Guy so he definitely has the comedy chops.

Fan Feelings Mixed: Six Episodes Not Enough? DJ's Absence a Betrayal?

Online fan reactions to the final season news are well… mixed. Some folks are bummed that it’s only six episodes feeling like that is not enough time to properly wrap up all the stories and characters especially with so many guest stars being announced. Concerns are being raised that storylines and character arcs might feel rushed or shortchanged with such a limited episode count. Especially with Mark still needing to figure out his school and money situation.

The absence of DJ is also hitting some fans hard. Screenrant called it "totally unacceptable" and a "betrayal of Roseanne's legacy". They argue that not even attempting to bring back DJ for the final goodbye especially after just writing him out before feels disrespectful to the show’s core message of family being everything. While some understand the reasons for Galecki and Parsons not returning the DJ situation is definitely ruffling some feathers with long-time viewers. Some fans even pointed out that a quick video call with DJ or David could have been a simple way to include them without feeling forced. It’s a common thing in real life and on TV shows these days.
