Daredevil: Born Again Episodes 5 & 6 Drop - Surprises Cameos and Who's That Swordsman?! - MoviesMolyAlright Defenders fans listen up! Disney+ just unleashed TWO new episodes of Daredevil: Born Again and trust me you are gonna want to dive in ASAP. Episode 5 and 6 are HERE and they are packed with surprises twists and maybe even a few head-scratching moments. Let's break down all the action Easter eggs and OMG moments you might have missed.
Episode 5 "With Interest" - Wait... Is That Ms. Marvel's DAD?! Plus Bank Heist Chaos!
Okay so if you were hyped after the last episode's Punisher return and that Daredevil suit tease prepare for a little detour. Episode 5 "With Interest" takes a breather from the main storyline and throws Matt Murdock right into the middle of a classic bank robbery. Yep you heard right bank heist on St. Paddy's Day!
Matt is trying to get a loan for his law firm (things are clearly tight) and who does he meet at the bank? None other than Yusef Khan - aka Kamala Khan AKA Ms. Marvel's super cool dad! It's a legit MCU cameo people! They actually hit it off and Yusef starts chatting about his daughter Kamala and Jersey City's very own superhero Ms. Marvel. Matt hilariously admits he has no clue who she is. Yusef being the proud dad he is grabs a Ms. Marvel Funko POP to show him. Seriously this show is getting meta.
Of course things can't be chill for long. Matt's loan gets denied naturally and as he leaves the bank BAM robbers burst in led by Devlin a right-hand man to some dude named Luca. Hostage situation alert! Matt being Matt can't just walk away. He tells Kirsten to call the cops and then turns back around to be Daredevil-y. There is some tense hostage stuff a joke from Officer Angie Kim to buy time (bless her) and Matt doing his bathroom-incapacitate-bad-guys trick. He and Yusef team up to open the vault only to find a super expensive diamond. Because why not?
Cops storm the place bad guys get arrested but Devlin the leader pulls a fast one and escapes in a police uniform. Not so fast Devlin! Daredevil is on his tail and delivers some classic Daredevil justice snapping Devlin's leg in a very un-heroic way. The episode wraps up with Matt returning to the bank swapping out a piece of candy from Yusef's desk for the diamond. Dinner invitation for Matt from the Khans? Maybe! This episode might be a bit divisive - it’s definitely a detour but hey who doesn't love a good bank heist with a surprise MCU crossover?
Episode 6 "Good Cop Bad Cop" - Enter Cole North and The Mysterious Swordsman!

Episode 6 "Good Cop Bad Cop" jumps right into the aftermath of Muse the graffiti artist/serial killer wreaking havoc. Both Matt and Fisk are taking matters into their own hands in their own not-so-legal ways. Matt suits up as Daredevil again for the first time since Foggy’s death a year ago. Fisk on the other hand is creating his own Anti-Vigilante Task Force (AVTF) because subtlety is not his thing.
Fisk's AVTF is made up of "bad apples" corrupt cops who are Punisher "fanboys" like Officer Powell (remember him framing White Tiger?). Fisk basically tells NYPD Commissioner Gallo to gather all the worst cops for this task force. These cops get overtime no body cams and permission to use "excessive force." Lovely.
Enter Sergeant Cole North a new character straight from the comics and played by Jeremy Isaiah Earl. North is a Chicago transfer top of his class detective in three years. Fisk recruits him to lead this AVTF and gives him a story about losing it all in Chicago and now wanting to clean up New York. North tells a tale about confronting a drug dealer in a park "encouraging him to tell the truth" which resulted in... well let's just say North has a very "efficient" way of dealing with criminals. Fisk is thrilled he has found his guy.
But wait there is another vigilante in town! Right at the start of episode 6 we see a viral video of a sword-wielding masked figure taking down thugs. WHO IS IT?! It's Jack Duquesne aka THE Swordsman played by Tony Dalton! Remember Jack from Hawkeye ? Eleanor Bishop's fiancé? Yeah him! Turns out in the years since Hawkeye (which was Christmas 2024 and Born Again is likely set in 2027) Jack has become a sword-swinging vigilante. Fisk uses this "Swordsman" as further proof for why his AVTF is needed to stop these "masked maniacs".
Comic fans might know Cole North from Chip Zdarsky's Daredevil comics. In the comics Cole is actually a GOOD cop a by-the-book detective who clashes with Daredevil but also has a strong moral compass. The MCU version seems... different. Is he truly corrupted or is there more to Sergeant North than meets the eye? And what about the Swordsman? Is he really a hero or just another complication for Matt and Fisk? Looks like we'll have to keep watching to find out!
