Debra Messing everyone's favorite Grace Adler is back in the spotlight and she is dishing out some seriously interesting tidbits about her iconic role plus a whole lot more. If you are a Will & Grace fan you are going to want to hear this. And even if you are not there are some great stories about Lucille Ball and Hollywood Squares you will enjoy.
Will & Grace: Golden Girls Edition? Debra Messing Thinks a Future Reboot Could Work But Only If...
So the big question for Will & Grace fans is always will there be more? Well Debra Messing has weighed in on the possibility of another reboot a third one if you are keeping count. And she has a very specific vision for how it could happen. Picture this Will & Grace: The Golden Years.
Debra joked on CBS Mornings that the only way a new Will & Grace could work is if they did a "Golden Girls" style show in like 20 or 30 years. Imagine Grace Will Jack and Karen all living it up in Boca Raton Florida wearing caftans. Sounds kind of amazing right?
Debra feels like they have already told the main story of Will & Grace through the original eight seasons and then the revival. She thinks any new version would have to jump way into the future and show the characters at a totally different stage of their lives. Honestly a "Golden Girls" take on Will & Grace? We are kind of here for it. Who wouldn't want to see older Grace Karen Will and Jack getting into hilarious senior citizen shenanigans?
Lucie Arnaz Tears Up Over Debra Messing's Lucille Ball Impersonation: A Truly Heartwarming Hollywood Story

Okay get ready for a story that will make you smile. Back in 2020 Will & Grace did a special tribute episode to I Love Lucy. Debra Messing of course played Lucille Ball in some iconic scenes. But what happened on set that day is truly special.
Lucie Arnaz Lucille Ball's daughter actually visited the set while they were filming that episode. And when Lucie saw Debra in full costume as her mom well it was an emotional moment. Debra shared on Watch What Happens Live that Lucie Arnaz literally cried when she saw her dressed as Lucille Ball.
Lucie apparently said something like "Oh my God Mom it’s been a long time." She hugged Debra and everyone was tearing up. It turns out that episode was the only time Lucie Arnaz ever allowed anyone to recreate scenes from I Love Lucy. She even gave them permission to use the actual scripts from the original show. That is a huge honor and a testament to how much Lucie Arnaz appreciated Will & Grace's tribute and Debra's portrayal.
Lucie herself even made a cameo in the episode. She told GoldDerby that she thought the script was "so damn clever" and "too fun" to pass up. After the episode aired fans were even suggesting Debra Messing should play Lucille Ball in the movie Being the Ricardos. While that role eventually went to Nicole Kidman Debra getting that kind of praise and Lucie Arnaz's emotional reaction is a pretty amazing Hollywood moment.
Debra Messing Confesses: She Has Never Watched a Single Will & Grace Rerun (and Her Son Agrees!)

This is kind of funny. Debra Messing who starred in Will & Grace and made Grace Adler a household name has actually never watched a rerun of the show. Never. She told Us Weekly that she has just never gone back and watched old episodes.
And guess what? Her 20-year-old son Roman has also never seen an episode. Debra says the show "kind of freaks him out". Imagine seeing your mom looking so young on TV when she is sitting right next to you now. Roman apparently is like "Well it's your mother. My mother is sitting right next to me. Now we're looking at my mother again. But she was 30." It is a little weird when you think about it from a kid's perspective.
Debra thinks maybe "someday he'll come to it" but for now reruns are not a thing in their house. Interestingly her former Will & Grace co-star Eric McCormack is totally different. He told Us Weekly he loves watching reruns. He sees them like "family movies" or "home movies" and enjoys watching the outtakes to remember "the greatest job". His son Finn however apparently trolls him for watching himself on TV. Kids are hilarious.
Despite their different views on rewatching old episodes Debra and Eric are still good friends. Debra said they don't have any projects planned together right now but "I think we both would be really excited about that." Maybe a "Golden Girls" style Will & Grace reboot with Debra and Eric in caftans? We can only hope!
Beyond Will & Grace: Debra Messing's New Movie and Praising Robert De Niro's Transformation

While Will & Grace is always going to be a big part of Debra Messing's career she is definitely keeping busy with new projects. She recently starred in a movie called The Alto Knights alongside Robert De Niro. And she has been raving about working with De Niro and especially his incredible transformation in the film.
In The Alto Knights De Niro actually plays two different characters both notorious crime bosses in New York City. Debra plays Bobbie Costello the wife of one of De Niro's characters. She told Us Weekly she was completely blown away by De Niro's transformation thanks to prosthetics.
She said "I just couldn’t believe it. The artistry of prosthetics. It’s something that I still can’t wrap my mind around." Apparently De Niro would spend three and a half hours in the makeup chair every day to become these two different characters. Debra said it wasn't until she saw the screening of the movie that she fully realized how incredible De Niro's dual performance was. It sounds like The Alto Knights is worth checking out just to see De Niro's acting and transformation alone.
