Yep you heard it right no new sketches or Weekend Update jokes this Saturday March 22nd . Instead of a brand new show NBC will be airing a rerun episode. If you are in the mood for some classic SNL you can catch a re-airing of Martin Short's Season 50 episode featuring musical guest Hozier. It is a solid episode to revisit but if you were hoping for something brand new you will have to wait just a bit longer.
Mark Your Calendars SNL Returns March 29 with First-Time Host Mikey Madison
The good news is the SNL break is just for one week. Saturday Night Live will be back with a fresh episode on Saturday March 29th. And get this it is going to be hosted by Mikey Madison. You might know her from the movie "Anora". This will be Madison's very first time hosting SNL so it is sure to be an exciting debut.
Joining Mikey Madison as musical guest is Morgan Wallen. Wallen actually has a bit of a history with SNL. He was supposed to be the musical guest once before but it got cancelled due to some pandemic related stuff. He did come back later though and even made fun of the whole situation in a sketch. So his return for the March 29th show is kind of a full circle moment.
Looking Ahead to April SNL Lineup Jack Black and Jon Hamm Set to Host
If you are already looking beyond March we have even more SNL hosting news. The schedule for April is shaping up nicely too. Get ready for Jack Black to bring his comedic energy to Studio 8H as host on Saturday April 5th. And that is not all musical guests for Jack Black's episode will be none other than Elton John and Brandi Carlile. Talk about a star-studded lineup!
Then just a week later on Saturday April 12th Jon Hamm is taking the hosting stage. Jon Hamm is always hilarious on SNL so that episode is definitely one to watch for. Lizzo will be the musical guest alongside Jon Hamm making it another great pairing.

While we wait for the new episodes let's dive into some fun SNL trivia thanks to a recent interview with long-time cast member Mikey Day. Mikey has been on SNL for years and has written and starred in tons of sketches. He shared some cool insights about his time on the show.
Mikey mentioned that he and fellow writer Streeter Seidell are known for writing together and are like "work wives". They even used to write sketches super late into the night sometimes working all the way through to Wednesday morning! Talk about dedication.
He also talked about creating the iconic "David S. Pumpkins" sketch with Streeter Seidell and Bobby Moynihan. He said realizing David S. Pumpkins was a thing at Universal Studios Halloween Horror Nights was when he knew they had made a mark on culture even if it was a "strange man in a pumpkin suit".
Mikey shared his love for writing sports related sketches too especially the "Game Time with Randy and Greg" ones featuring Bill Hader. And he even co-wrote the "Lord Gaga" sketch with Lady Gaga which he said was a blast. It is always interesting to get a peek behind the curtain at how SNL gets made and Mikey Day gave some great details.
