Okay Masked Singer fans things just got a whole lot sweeter and a little nostalgic! This week we had another celebrity unmasked and it was a blast from the past that definitely surprised some people and delighted others. Ready for the big reveal? Let's get into it because Cherry Blossom 's time on the show just wilted but her identity? Totally bloomed!
Cherry Blossom Gets Chopped But Reveals a 90s TV Icon Underneath!
This week's Masked Singer episode introduced us to a fresh batch of masked singers including the flowery and fabulous Cherry Blossom. She seemed nervous but ready to go and in her intro video she hinted at a personal connection to the show. Cherry Blossom said the costume represented "rebirth" and a "changing of seasons" which sounded pretty deep. She even dropped a clue about a past Masked Singer contestant who was a close friend someone she "grew up with" and who "taught her not to take herself so seriously." Intriguing right?
Cherry Blossom then belted out Jennifer Lopez's "Let's Get Loud" and you know what? She actually did pretty darn good for someone who claimed to have never sung live before. But even with a solid performance the nerves were still showing. She told the judges it was "the scariest thing I've ever done" and that her legs were like "noodles." Aw bless her heart!
Adding to the mystery Joey Fatone of NSYNC fame popped up in a video clue saying Cherry Blossom was "part of one of the most famous TV families of the '90s." The judges threw out guesses like Tina Fey Jessica Biel Jennie Garth and Tracy Gold. But in the end after the votes were counted Cherry Blossom got the least love and had to take it off.
Hello D.J.! Candace Cameron Bure is Cherry Blossom!
And under that pretty pink Cherry Blossom mask? None other than Candace Cameron Bure ! Yep D.J. Tanner herself from the mega-hit 90s sitcom Full House! Talk about a throwback! Candace confessed she had "never sang live before" at least not like this. She was happy she faced her fears and gave it a go.
Remember that emotional clue about a friend on the show? That was about Bob Saget aka Danny Tanner aka her TV dad! Bob was Squiggly Monster in Season 4. Candace said Bob "taught her not to take herself so seriously" and that she knew it was him "from the very first note" when she watched his season. So sweet she did this in his honor.
Judge Robin Thicke also had a personal connection. His late dad Alan Thicke was on Growing Pains with Candace's brother Kirk Cameron. Robin even revealed he and Candace were "boyfriend and girlfriend for a week at 13 years old!" Small world Hollywood huh?
