Hey Survivor fans get ready for something totally wild! Season 50 is coming up and guess what? You get to play a part in designing the game! Yep you heard that right Jeff Probst and the Survivor crew are letting us the fans vote on some big decisions for the show's landmark 50th season. Talk about a twist!
Survivor 50: In the Hands of the Fans - Jeff Probst Says YOU Decide the Game!
Jeff Probst himself announced this crazy cool idea during a recent Survivor 48 viewing party. He basically said that for Season 50 which they are calling " Survivor 50 : In the Hands of the Fans" the producers are handing over some of the game design power to us viewers. How awesome is that?
Probst wants to thank us loyal fans for sticking with the show for over 25 years and what better way than to let us actually influence what happens on the island? He mentioned "Producers will not be in charge of the game design you will." So throughout Survivor 48 episodes we are getting the chance to vote on key elements that the players in Season 50 will have to deal with. And get this the players themselves will have no clue what's coming until they are actually in the game. Talk about unpredictable!
Vote Now: Will There Be a Tribe Swap? What Kind of Final Challenge? Round 2 Voting is ON!

The voting is happening right now during Survivor 48 episodes. Jeff kicked off the second round of voting in a recent episode and there are some big choices to make. If you want to have your say head over to survivor50CBS.votenow.tv to cast your votes.
Here's what's on the ballot for Round 2:
- Tribe Swap: Yes or No? Do you want to shake things up with a tribe swap and force new alliances or let alliances form naturally without any twists? It's your call!
- Final Four Challenge: You get to pick the final immunity challenge from three options. Word is one of them might be the classic "Simmotion" challenge which is always intense.
- Advantage Power: How much power should advantages have in the game? You can choose between:
- Minimal Power: Advantages are there but not too game-changing.
- Strategic Power: Advantages can really influence strategy but not totally dominate.
- Dynamic Power: Advantages are super powerful and can drastically change the game.
These are some seriously impactful choices. Imagine knowing that decisions we made as viewers are going to directly affect how the game plays out for the Season 50 cast. It's a whole new level of fan engagement!
First Round Results: Tribe Colors Rice and Fire-Making - What Fans Already Voted On

This isn't the first time fans have gotten to vote. The voting actually started way back during the Survivor 48 premiere. In the first round you guys already decided on some key things:
- Tribe Colors: You picked the colors for the tribes in Season 50. Gotta have those iconic buffs right?
- Rice or No Rice: Did you vote to give the players rice to help them survive or make them really rough it without? Tough choices!
- Final Four Fire-Making: This is a controversial one. You got to decide if Season 50 will keep the final four fire-making challenge or ditch it. Big impact on the end game!
- Live Reunion in LA: And finally you voted on whether the reunion show should be live in Los Angeles or keep doing it right after the final Tribal Council in Fiji.
We won't know the results of these votes until Season 50 actually airs but it's fun to think about how these fan decisions are already shaping the season.
26 Days Sticking Around: Why Survivor Season Length Isn't Changing (Sorry 39-Day Fans)

Now here's a bit of news that might bum some of you out. Even though fans are getting to vote on game elements one thing that's not changing is the season length. Yep Survivor 50 is sticking with the 26-day format instead of going back to the classic 39 days.
Jeff Probst explained that this is due to "production situation". Basically he said "It’s simply a production situation. We like this game and I can tell you that even if we wanted to, we already have our leases our land agreements with Mana Island. 39 days isn’t even an option." So it sounds like even if they wanted to go back to 39 days it's just not feasible with their current setup in Fiji. Looks like 26 days is the new normal for Survivor.
VIP Fiji Trip: Dream Vacation for 5 Lucky Superfans

Okay even if the season length is staying the same there's still some amazing fan stuff happening for Season 50. Survivor is partnering with Fiji Airways to send five super lucky fans on a VIP trip to Fiji during filming! Seriously a trip to the Mamanuca Islands a stay at a luxury resort and even a VIP tour of the Survivor filming locations. Dream come true right?
To enter fans had to submit a short video explaining what Survivor means to them. Imagine getting to be there in Fiji while they are filming Season 50. That is a once-in-a-lifetime experience for any die-hard Survivor watcher.
Gia's Game Plan: One Fan's Voting Recommendations for a "Celebration" Season
Want some voting inspiration? Survivor super fan Gia Worthy from Inside Survivor shared her voting recommendations and they are pretty interesting. For advantages she is all about "Minimal Power" saying that super powerful advantages take away from player agency and strategy. She is team Tribe Swap because she wants to see as many social dynamics in play as possible for this special season. And for the final challenge she is going classic all the way recommending "Hands on a Hard Idol" to bring it full circle to Season 1.
Whether you agree with her or not it's cool to see fans getting so involved and thinking strategically about how to shape Survivor 50. It really is "In the Hands of the Fans"!
