Season 5: Holy Week Takes Center Stage with Betrayal Last Supper and Temple Drama Coming

Creator Dallas Jenkins himself spilled the beans about what to expect. Season 5 is diving headfirst into Holy Week. We are talking about the big moments you have heard about for years: Jesus' triumphal entry into Jerusalem the Last Supper the intense scene of Jesus turning over the tables at the temple and of course the heartbreaking betrayal by Judas.

Jenkins emphasizes that while these epic events will be there the heart of the season is really about the personal stories and relationships. Imagine being Jesus' closest friends knowing what is coming. How would that feel? How would Jesus himself handle that week? Season 5 is going there exploring the intimacy authenticity and human side of these well-known stories. It's about putting you right there in the middle of it all seeing it from a human point of view.

For newbies Jenkins actually suggests starting from Season 1 not jumping right into Season 5. He knows the Holy Week stories might grab your attention but he promises the emotional impact will be way stronger if you have seen the journey so far. Think of it as catching up on the backstory before the main event. He hopes folks will binge-watch Seasons 1-4 to be fully ready for Season 5 in theaters.

The cast shared some hints about their characters' journeys in Season 5 and it sounds intense. Shahar Isaac who plays Simon Peter said Peter is stepping into a leadership role but feeling uncertain. He sees Jesus "unraveling a little" and Peter feels like he might need to take charge himself as his faith gets tested.

Abe Bueno-Jallad who plays Big James talked about James' growth. Instead of chasing a title James is focused on doing what he thinks is best for the group showing a more mature approach. Luke Dimyan who plays Judas described his character as driven by "fear anxiety ambition and want". Judas wants Jesus to be a different kind of savior and his dark path towards betrayal will become clearer.

Noah James playing Andrew said Season 5 is a huge test for Andrew's faith especially after John the Baptist's death. Andrew is trying to be strong and follow Jesus but questions if he truly understands what Jesus means about what is to come. Elizabeth Tabish as Mary Magdalene revealed that Mary is one of the few who senses Jesus' impending death and actually tries to prevent it. She sees the growing conflict and wants to help the Pharisees understand Jesus hoping to stop the tragedy. Paras Patel (Matthew) mentioned that Mary has a unique insight that the other disciples are still trying to grasp as chaos and turmoil increase.
