9-1-1: Lone Star has finished its run on Fox after five seasons. The good news is the finale did not end on a major cliffhanger . With the original 9-1-1 still airing and talks of a new spinoff there is hope for answers about our favorite Austin-based characters.

Lone Star wrapped up with Owen taking a chief position in New York. Judd became captain of the 126. Tommy’s cancer was in remission. T.K. became a stay-at-home dad after adoption. Marjan was pregnant and Mateo's citizenship was progressing. Despite these resolutions questions remain. Will Owen stay in New York? How will Judd handle being captain? Will T.K. go back to work? How will Marjan manage pregnancy as a firefighter? Will we see any of these characters again?

9-1-1 continues on ABC for its eighth season. Buck Hen and Eddie from the original series previously met the 126 in a crossover. There have been discussions about another spinoff though nothing is confirmed. Could 9-1-1 or a new show provide answers to our Lone Star questions?

Could Simple Communication Bridge 9-1-1 and Lone Star Storylines?

A Phone Call or Social Media Could Offer Updates

The established crossover means characters from both shows can easily connect. A simple phone call between characters could give updates. We might not even need to see the Lone Star character on screen. Perhaps Owen and Hen have stayed in contact after their past experience. Judd and Eddie might catch up. Buck could follow Marjan on social media after his efforts to connect with her.

Eddie's Potential Move Could Connect Los Angeles and Austin

A Trip to Texas Could Offer Character Interactions

Before 9-1-1 went on break Eddie considered moving to Texas to be nearer to his son. What if he proceeds with this move? A trip from El Paso to Austin could happen. He could visit the 126 and share updates with the 118 upon his return.

A Crossover Episode Could Bring 126 to Los Angeles

Emergency Situations Can Unite Different Firehouses

Just one member of the 126 needing to be in Los Angeles could create a crossover. That person could easily encounter the 118 and assist in a rescue. Downtime between emergencies would allow for conversations about life updates.

Unused Crossover Ideas Could Be Revived

Past Plans Might Inform Future Storylines

Lone Star co-showrunner Rashad Raisani mentioned past crossover ideas. One idea involved an emergency in L.A. where the 126 supported the 118. Another concept was the International Firefighting Games where both teams meet and face an emergency. These ideas might be adapted for 9-1-1 or a new spinoff.

New Spinoff Could Feature Lone Star Characters

Possibility of Guest Appearances or Regular Roles

A new 9-1-1 show is in development. Raisani who is involved with Ryan Murphy and Tim Minear expressed interest in Lone Star characters appearing in it. Whether as series regulars or guest stars any appearance could provide updates on the 126.

Lone Star Finale Satisfied Most Characters Except One

Paul's Storyline Remained Less Defined

The 9-1-1: Lone Star finale provided satisfying conclusions for most characters. Owen survived and moved to New York. Marjan was pregnant. Mateo avoided deportation. Carlos and T.K. adopted. Tommy's cancer was in remission. However Paul's storyline felt less resolved .

Paul was active in the finale's emergency. But when the 126 gathered after Judd's captain promotion Paul was somewhat excluded. His contribution was limited to asking Mateo about his hearing and a comment about Marjan's baby. Other characters' futures were outlined but Paul's was not.

It could be argued Paul's happy ending came earlier with his lieutenant promotion. He had a healthy relationship with Asha and mentored Jax. Yet these elements were not developed further in the finale. This was a missed opportunity.

Paul's Ending Could Have Included Mentoring Jax

Developing Protégé Relationship For Full Circle Moment

A better ending for Paul might have involved Jax. Jax a non-binary teenager was introduced in a prior episode and Paul became a mentor. Despite Jax visiting the firehouse Jax was not mentioned again after the time jump. Confirmation of Jax becoming a probie mentored by Paul would have been positive. It would have boosted representation and completed Paul's journey.

Relationship with Asha Could Have Been Highlighted

Simple Progression Would Give Fans Closure

Another way to enhance Paul's ending was through his relationship with Asha. The show could have shown progression like moving in together or plans for proposal. This would have offered fans a glimpse into Paul's future. Instead Paul received little development a missed chance for 9-1-1: Lone Star.

Rob Lowe Open to Reprising Owen Strand Role

Actor Expresses Interest in Future 9-1-1 Universe Appearances

Rob Lowe has indicated he is open to returning as Owen Strand. He stated "never say never" to reprising the role. Lowe expressed respect for first responders and honors bringing their stories to the screen. He enjoyed the finale's positive ending for characters invested in for five seasons. He acknowledged audience will miss the show.

Lowe noted the financial reasons for Lone Star ending . He mentioned the show was a Disney company on a Fox network creating financial challenges. Despite cancellation Ryan Murphy hinted at a new spinoff for 2026 possibly in Hawaii. Tim Minear confirmed no current plans to bring back Lone Star characters for the new show.

Lowe remains open to returning depending on story script and production quality. He wants any return to maintain the production value of Lone Star. The possibility of Owen Strand's return is not entirely closed.
