Okay Bachelor fans you know Sean Lowe right? The supER nice guy from way back in season 17? Well things got seriously intense for Sean over the weekend and not in a good reality TV drama kind of way. Sean just shared a pretty wild story about being attacked by his own dog. Twice. In less than 12 hours. Yeah you read that right. Buckle up because this is intense.
Smoke Alarm Set Off A Scary Chain of Events: Sean Lowe's First Dog Attack in Detail
Sean explained on Instagram that he was having a chill BBQ at home. Wife Catherine and the kids wERe out at the mall. Doors and windows were open you know easy breezy. But then smoke from the grill drifted inside and set off the smoke alarm. Annoying but normal right? Nope. This is where things went sideways.
Sean grabbed a dish rag to wave away the smoke from the alarm. That's when Moose their boxer dog who they'd adopted just under three months ago suddenly went into attack mode. Sean said Moose nipped at the rag and his finger aggressively which was already weird behavior for him.
Then it escalated fast. Sean said he gave Moose a firm "No Moose!" but Moose just showed his teeth and went full-on attack. Not just a defensive nip and run. Sean said he felt the dog "ripping into the flesh" of his arm. He was doing everything he could to fight the dog off feeling him tear into his arm. Seriously scary stuff.
Sean managed to get Moose outside but it wasn't over. The dog came right back in and attacked him again. Sean described it as "fighting for my life against my dog". He looked down at his arm and saw blood "squirting probably a couple feet" and a "literal pool of blood" forming on the floor. Thank goodness Sean's friends were there and rushed him to the ER.
Back to the ER - Attack Number Two Less Than 12 Hours Later: "I Felt Like If This Dog Gets Up He’s Going to Kill Me"

You would think that would be enough drama for one weekend right? Wrong. The next morning Sean was still shaken up and trying to figure out what to do about Moose. His parents came over to take the kids so Sean and Catherine could deal with everything.
As Sean was outside waiting for his parents with the kids he heard Catherine yelling from inside. Then he saw Moose charging out the front door right at him. The wind had blown the double doors open somehow and Moose escaped.
Sean said reliving the attack less than 12 hours later was terrifying. Especially since his arm was already stitched up and basically useless. He braced himself for the worst. And yeah Moose attacked again. Sean wrestled him to the ground this time knowing his arm was getting ripped open again. He said he felt like "if this dog gets up he is going to kill me".
Sean who is a big guy at 220 pounds said it took everything he had to control Moose for a full ten minutes until police and an ambulance arrived. His mom had called 911 in a panic. Neighbors even rushed in to help get his kids safely away from the scene. Sean ended up back in the ER this time for more stitches on his other arm. Double ouch.
Trauma and Tough Decisions: What's Next for Sean Lowe and Moose?

Sean is understandably shaken up by all of this. He's working with Animal control and a no-kill shelter to figure out what to do with Moose. He knows he can't keep the dog in the house with his kids anymore for their safety. It’s a heartbreaking situation all around.
What's even sadder is how Sean describes Moose before the attacks. He said Moose was "great around my kids" "great in the house" and "just an affectionate loving boxer". They adopted him from a shelter thinking they were giving a good dog a loving home. Sean thinks Moose must have experienced some serious trauma before they got him that caused this sudden violent switch to flip.
Despite the brutal attacks Sean is being super understanding. He said "It wasn’t Moose’s fault". He's focusing on being grateful that it was him who got hurt and not his wife or kids. He even joked that he'll have "scarred arms for the rest of my life but I can live with that". Catherine was by his side in the video looking understandably upset by everything. Sean praised her for being an "amazing caretaker" as he recovers.
